3 Vital Reasons to Use a Contractor for a Bathroom Remodel

0

Your bathroom is your sanctuary, your refuge. It’s a place where you can de-stress and be pampered. But sometimes, a remodel can be the thing to do, changing your bathroom for the better. Remodeling a bathroom is rewarding but can also be daunting — that new color scheme, those awkward unicorn renderings of your children’s drawings on the walls. You might not know how it all works! That’s where a contractor comes in handy. We have three reasons to hire one for your bathroom remodel!

1) Expertise

Precision and expertise are the names of the game when it comes to bathroom remodeling. A bathroom can take days to months to complete, but when done right and by a contractor you trust, it’s worth every second. A contractor can build your new bathroom in whatever style you like.

A contractor can ensure no hidden costs, while you can keep your mind on other things, like keeping the kids out of dad’s toolbox. A contractor will know how to design your bathroom to work well with your household. Contractors are there to help you with everything from plumbing fixtures to paint colors, guaranteeing that your new bathroom will be exactly what you want.

2) Speed, Quality, and Safety

A contractor will do the work of a couple of even the most knowledgeable DIYers. If you’re thinking about remodeling a bathroom, the odds are that you want it done quickly and efficiently but on budget and with care. The contractor will always watch for problems that could arise during construction.

Remodeling your bathroom on your own can take days, weeks, and sometimes even months of debate between your spouse and kids. A contractor can work quickly and doesn’t have time to argue with you about whether the tile should go up over the existing tile or under the existing tile. Instead of spending weeks redoing a project that was wrong from the start, a contractor can get right to work putting in things that will make your bathroom better and last for years.

3) Insurance and Warranty

Contractors are insured for any damage to your home or possessions during work. They have insurance against legal action if a person is injured on the property or if something goes wrong with the remodeling. An insurance policy will also protect you in case of issues with your bathroom remodel, like a leak or a mold problem. While you can’t control what happens to your house or your appliances and fixtures, a contractor can take care of the unexpected and ensure that everything goes smoothly while they fulfill your remodeling dreams.

Contractors also come with warranties and backup services to ensure that your bathroom will be working safely once they turn on the faucet. A contractor can also help you get the necessary permits, which is sometimes more difficult than it seems. Contractors know how to get around local regulations and can help you save time and effort by immediately getting the permits you need.

Keep in Mind

A contractor will protect you from the unexpected and help you to have a bathroom that fulfills all your remodel ideas. A contractor is the best way to guarantee that your home improvement projects go smoothly. Talk with a local contractor to get started on your next bathroom remodel project!

4 Key Areas to Upgrade to a House to Help It Sell Faster

0

Everybody knows the longer a home stays on the market, the chances of a top-dollar sale decrease. Thankfully, there are ways that you can increase the odds of a quick sale by focusing on renovating specific areas of your home.

You need to declutter, remove personal items, and do some enhancements overall, but concentrating on the sections that bring you a good ROI means everything. The market has shifted, and what was once a seller’s market has once again favored the buyer. Knowing where to spend your money on upgrades and improvements means everything.

There are specific locations within the home that are deal breakers. Potential buyers come into the house and see these costly upgrades and won’t make an offer. Here are four areas that you should focus your time, energy, and money on redoing to appeal to the masses.

1. Master Bathroom

The ensuite is not an option anymore, as most home buyers put this on their must-have list. The privacy that this extra bathroom provides means the head of the house can groom and relax without leaving their space. Did you know that some potential buyers won’t even consider a home that doesn’t have an ensuite in the master?

Since this has become a highly desirable room, you must ensure you have upgraded lighting and fixtures, fresh paint, and both a tub and shower option. Sometimes you need to spend a little money to ensure you will make money on the sale.

2. Kitchen

Kitchen remodels are expensive. Potential buyers will see dollar signs if this space is outdated and needs repairs. Experts say you will get a 50-60 percent investment return, so you must spend wisely.

There are things you can do to enhance this area without spending a fortune, but just letting it remain “as is” can destroy your chances of a quick sale. If you get any offers, they might be under-asking, considering the amount needed to bring the kitchen up to date.

3. Backyard/Patio Area

Potential buyers want the outdoors to be just as friendly and inviting as the inside. Putting in a patio area can be costly when considering concrete and building an overhead structure. Landscaping is another hot commodity, as folks want a well-kept yard that doesn’t require expensive plants and bushes to make it look complete.

4. Garage

Folks try to save money these days by doing repairs themselves. A garage is a vital space for the DIY enthusiast. Kings Development helps people transform these spaces into areas that appeal to any buyer.

Whether your buyer is a mechanic who likes to work on vehicles or someone who wants to run a home-based business makes no difference; this addition to your home is vital.

Ask any realtor, and they will tell you some homes sit for months on the market. These homes usually don’t move because they need costly renovations that increase the purchase price.

Many people want turn-key properties that require little to no effort. If you want your home to be more appealing and get that quick sale, then spend some time and money on these critical areas. Whether you choose to list your home with a traditional realtor or sell it to a development company, it’s best to spend some time renovating certain areas.

What is Groupthink?

0

What is Groupthink?

Groupthink is a phenomenon in which a group of people who share common values come to reach a false consensus that they all held without critical evaluation. Groupthink can result in irrational and poor-quality decisions, programs, and policies. Groupthink is most likely to happen when the group’s members are similar in background or status (e.g., age, gender) and have made little effort to search out differing opinions. Dr. Jordan Sudberg explains: “When people have common pre-existing beliefs, or similar backgrounds, or are not familiar with other viewpoints (or don’t have time to think), they tend to fall into groupthink.”

Groupthink is most likely to occur when a group’s members share similar backgrounds (e.g., age, gender), when they lack a history of different viewpoints being presented or debated by the group members and when they feel pressure from above to make decisions quickly before voices in opposition to the consensus can be heard. Groups give off misleading signals about their thinking that can affect this process. He explains that “the more homogeneous the people are and the more they are committed to a particular outcome, the more biased their communication is likely to be, and the more likely they are to perceive events in a predetermined way.” Dr. Sudberg notes that “a host of studies have found that groups tend to develop overoptimistic perceptions of their collective performance, both in simulated settings and in real-world experiments.” He adds that this “groupthink effect does not reside in the leader so much as in large coalitions of like-minded individuals.”

Groupthink can occur when people are motivated by fear, but it can also happen consciously. A group can choose not to challenge its assumptions and beliefs because it believes this will inhibit a decision’s acceptance by others. It discourages members from challenging ideas that they know may be wrong. According to Sudberg, “The most common mechanism through which groups produce a faulty consensus is through miscommunication, both with one another as well as external observers.”

Groupthink is a term coined by Irving Janis in 1972 to describe a pattern of thought that often leads to poor decisions. The theory builds on Sigmund Freud’s work on the unconscious mind. According to Dr. Jordan Sudberg, “the Groupthink model was how I was trained, and it was probably an expert system that translated my intuitions into a formal model.” In describing groupthink, Janis claims that when there are many decision-makers and compromise is needed, people can be unwilling to consider alternative viewpoints and instead focus on available information from all group members.

Groupthink is not a clear-cut theory. It is based on the notion that a number of factors can influence the decision-making process and make it more likely to yield poor decisions. However, recent studies show that groups reach optimal decisions in less than 40 minutes when they typically take up to an hour or longer. One long-term study involving 5,000 subjects found that groupthink almost always occurs and that participants cannot identify even the most straightforward cases of groupthink; participants often blamed a group member for not challenging an idea rather than acknowledging their unwillingness to challenge assumptions that were hardly challenged at all by others.

Groupthink theory assumes that groups of people are limited in their ability to think objectively and critically. It is because they have only a little time to decide. During these short periods, they wish to appear confident by offering counter-ideas, thus encouraging groupthink and conformity.

Why Virtual and Hybrid Events Remain Popular Post-Pandemic

0

In 2020, 70% of physical events switched to hybrid or virtual formats to comply with lockdown orders. Now in 2022, digital events remain popular. 40% of events are planned as virtual while 35% use a hybrid format. Despite the ability to return to physical events, organizers have discovered there are benefits to keeping virtual and hybrid events.

Benefits include cost savings for both organizers and attendees. Businesses can cut travel costs by 30% when they save on event transportation expenses. Organizers don’t have to book hotel rooms, either. While hosting webinars on online platforms may not be free, it does cost significantly less than renting conference space. Along with saving money, event planners and attendees save time by not physically traveling. Virtual events reduce travel and commute for 46% of businesses. All these benefits taken together explain why virtual and hybrid events remain popular post-pandemic.

Yet while there are many aspects to celebrate, virtual events can also bring challenges. “Zoom fatigue” is a real phenomenon. The amount of eye contact on scenes during video chat is unnatural. Each participant is looking at everyone, creating a stressful experience. Event planners should consider ways to mitigate these issues for their webinar attendees.

Planning for Future Improvements

Planning for Future Improvements

The business world is changing radically every day. The improvements are constantly altering the playing field, and the only way a business can keep up is by constantly adapting to new trends and changes. Businesses need to alter their services and operations to put them in a better position to soak up any possible change that they might face in the future.

As Dr. Jordan Sudberg points out, the world today is too dynamic not to have a plan for tomorrow. Businesses that are not planning for the future will eventually fail, like every former empire that did not anticipate the changes that would occur. It would be impossible to predict what might happen and how it will affect your business. However, you can increase your chances of survival by preparing and looking at different possible futures.

How to Plan For Future Improvements

How can a business plan for the future? The best way to plan is to conduct an internal and external analysis. An internal analysis comes from within the company as they would study their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities through SWOT or PESTEL analysis. This will give them a better understanding of their company and how they can improve on it.

A business needs to look outside its company as well in order to prepare for the future. There are many things to look out for in the outside world that can affect a business. The size and strength of the competitors, the actions of the government and other non-government bodies, as well as technological and environmental changes all need to be studied for businesses to survive.

Dr. Jordan Sudberg outlines the following strategies any business can use to develop its own plan for the future.

1. Conducting Market Research

A business should research its market, competition, and other facts that would help it achieve its goals. This would give them a better understanding of the external environment.

2. Obtaining Competitive Intelligence

Businesses should continuously obtain information about their competitors and their plans to be prepared for anything that might occur in the future. By studying the strengths and weaknesses of their competitors, a business can know what to watch out for in the future.

3. Assessing Risk Management

The risk management system is important for any business as it would allow them to identify possible risks they might face and how they can prepare for them. It would allow them to put measures in place to deal with any risk that could ruin their business or put it at a disadvantage.

4. Developing a Competitive Advantage

The competitive advantage refers to the strategic advantages that are inherent in their products or other services that a business can offer and use to help them survive in the coming years. This would only be achieved through careful planning and thorough market research, which could help them know what to look out for in the future.

5. Narrowing Market Segments and Posing Strategic Challenges for Growth

Businesses should devise strategies to maximize their current market segments or find new ones by challenging existing players or sector competitors.

6. Identifying Future Trends and Developing Strategic Positioning

A business should identify future trends and develop strategies based on them to maximize its benefits.

Takeaway

Planning is the key to survival in this dynamic business world. There are many factors that will change the game, and it is the duty of every business to adapt to these changes to improve its position and chances of survival.

4 Ways to Improve Your Business’s Online Customer Service

0

It is impossible to overstress the importance of online customer service for a business’s success.

In the digital age and modern service economy, the customer is king and is expected to be handled in a friendly and efficient manner. Poor customer service will make your business lose repeat customers and therefore reduce revenue.

Good customer service is built on core tenets of expertise, amiability, and timeliness. Whether you’re operating live chat, email, on-site, social media, interactive voice, or self-service support, customers need their questions answered following these tenets.

Continue reading for more practical answers on improving your online customer service.

  1. Open Multiple Communication Channels

While not all businesses deal with the same online customer service problems, many are bogged down by the same basic questions. To alleviate wasted time answering each customer in a call or through email, consider developing a company blog, glossary, or FAQ.

Ideally, as businesses grow, they should adopt the following customer service channels:

  • Live chat with connected AI chat
  • Company blog and glossary
  • FAQ and how-to guides
  • Email support
  • Voice support with Interactive Voice Response (for troubleshooting problems, service requests, ordering, etc.)
  • On-site support
  • Social media support

Keeping efficiency in mind, consider developing or purchasing an AI chatbot for on-site support.

In simple terms, an AI chatbot is a search engine that collects information. Instead of having a customer wait for an agent—or surfing the internet to solve their problems—a chatbot directs them to on-site articles and stores their conversation for an agent to review later.

Advanced chatbots optimize customer experience (CX) and integrate the aforementioned channels based on the problem’s type and urgency and the customer’s preference.

  1. Develop Your Team’s Communication Skills

Thanks to modern technology, you can track and record communications as long as you have customer approval. This means you can see deficiencies in communication skills for each of your employees—and your team as a whole.

If customers frequently leave when dealing with a specific problem or an individual employee, you can develop a new approach. Either train all employees on all contingencies related to that scenario or teach a specific employee to be more friendly and aware.

Have quarterly performance reviews for each employee to go over their stats. Most employee-specific issues are simple to deal with, but take time. So be patient.

  1. Always Get Feedback

Regardless of which communication channel a customer utilizes to get support, always give them the option to leave feedback. Whether that’s through a comment on social media or a survey after a voice call or live chat, the chance for feedback should always be available.

Customers who take the time to give feedback often have specific advice and rarely gripe about the customer service process in totality. Even if they do provide general feedback, it can still be useful.

General feedback, like average wait time (AWT) in a queue and how often a customer is switched between employees or departments, can improve efficiency in the long run.

Also, encourage existing clients and customers to leave business reviews and ratings online. This helps your business and Google Business Profile rank up in search engines.

  1. Look at Improving Online Customer Service to Scale

Issues with customer service should be handled part by part. Don’t expect enormous positive effects immediately, as purchasing new technology, launching communication channels, and developing employee skills takes time.

If you own a business and want to make changes in the long run, address your problems as soon as possible and create a plan. Track employee efforts and determine employee adherence (the amount of time they spend working) to create a personalized plan for improvement.

Neither a business nor online customer service can be run by one person. So, keep striving forward.

What is Email Security and Why is it Important For My Business

0

Email security has the ability to protect you from a number of things. It’s important to have an email security solution in place to protect your business from these threats.

There are a number of different types of email security solutions available, making it up to you to find one that’s right for your business.

Email Security and the Different Types of Solutions

Email security acts as a barrier between your inbox and the outside world. It helps to protect you from spam, phishing attacks, viruses, and other malware. It can also prevent sensitive information from being leaked.

Email security can be divided into two main types: on-premises and cloud-based. On-premises solutions are installed and managed on your own servers, while cloud-based solutions are hosted by a third party.

Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to choose the right type of solution for your business.

Why You Need Email Security

Email is one of the most commonly used tools for communication, both in business and in our personal lives, however, it’s also one of the most vulnerable.

Every day, billions of emails are sent around the world. Many of these are innocent, but some contain malicious intent. Spammers send out millions of emails containing links to viruses or other malware.

These different malicious attacks come in different forms including:

  • Phishing emails: These are emails that appear to be from a reputable source, but are actually fake. They’re usually used to trick people into giving away sensitive information, such as passwords or credit card numbers.
  • Viruses: These are programs that can infect your computer and cause serious damage. They can be spread through email attachments or links.
  • Malware: This is software that’s designed to damage or disable computers. It can be spread through email attachments or links.
  • Spam: This is an unsolicited email, often sent in bulk. It can clog up your inbox and make it difficult to find important messages.

Email security is important because it helps to protect you from all of these threats. By filtering out the spam and malware, it can prevent your inbox from being overrun. And by stopping phishers and hackers in their tracks, it can help to keep your sensitive information safe.

How to Choose an Email Security Solution

There are a number of different email security solutions available on the market. It’s important to choose one that’s right for your business.

Here are a few things to consider when choosing an email security solution:

Features: What features does the solution offer? Does it have spam filtering? Anti-virus protection? Anti-phishing protection?

Ease of use: How easy is the solution to use? Will it be simple for your employees to use?

Pricing: How much does the solution cost? Is it affordable for your business

With this checklist, you should be able to find an email security solution that’s right for your business. Don’t wait until you open that malicious email disguised as an important message from your boss – get email security today.

How Design Templates Can Make Creating a Presentation a Snap

0

Creating a presentation from scratch can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not a trained designer. But with the help of design templates, you can quickly and easily create a professional-looking presentation that can captivate your audience and help you communicate your message.

Templates Can be Used for Every Type of Presentation

There are templates available for just about every type of presentation, from simple to complex. Whether your presentation is 10 minutes or two hours long, templates can be used to ease the load and stress of preparation.

No Graphic Designer Needed

When using templates for presentations, you do not need to be a graphic designer or hire one to do it for you. You can do it all yourself without it being too overwhelming. All you need to do is finalize the content that you are going to use on your slides, choose the template that best suits your needs, message, and personality, and insert your content. It is as easy as that.

Personalizable

Though templates are pre-made, you can still personalize and customize your presentation to fit you and your message. You still want to show your personality and the feeling of your presentation message through your presentation. You can do this by choosing specific templates that fit the specific context. You are not limited to one. Options for different templates, layouts, and colors are available and can all work to help show what you are trying to communicate through your presentation.

Templates Save Valuable Time

This seems obvious but it is one of the most important benefits of using presentation templates. Saving time on the design and layout of your presentation means that you can focus on the content of your presentation and make sure that it is the absolute best it can be. Your valuable time is spent on what matters most, the message of your presentation.

This also means you can focus on practicing. If you are someone who gets nervous during presentations or gets uncomfortable in front of people, more time to practice and prepare can make all the difference. The time you save by using a template for your presentation can be used to build your confidence and help you be successful with your presentation.

Use Templates for Your Next Presentation

These are just a few reasons why using templates for your presentation can be helpful. Design templates can help you save time, money, and stress while still giving you the flexibility to create a presentation that is uniquely your own. You can also focus the time that you save by using templates on other things such as practicing or finalizing your content.

With the help of presentation templates, you can quickly and easily create a presentation that will engage and inspire your audience and communicate your message successfully.

So next time you need to give a presentation, don’t start from scratch, find a design template that shows your personality and feel of your presentation and make it a snap.

8 Wellness Tips for Staying Healthy During This Winter

0

With the holidays behind us and winter settling in, staying healthy can seem daunting. Between long days at work, pumping up our immune systems with holiday parties and gatherings, and bundling up against chilly temperatures, it can be hard to remember what’s best for our health. But don’t worry; you can still stay healthy this winter! Here are eight tips for doing just that.

1. Get Plenty of Exercises

Staying active can help boost your immune system, improve your mood, and help you manage stress. Regular exercise is important to stay well during the colder months, whether you like hitting the gym, going for a brisk walk outside, or participating in other physical activities. Of course, it’s also important to be mindful of how much exercise you do. Overdoing it can put you at risk for injury or illness, so make sure to pace yourself and listen to your body as you work out.

2. Drink Lots of Water

It may seem obvious, but one of the best ways to stay healthy during the colder months is to drink plenty of water. Hydration is important year-round, but it can be especially crucial during the winter when temperatures and humidity are low. Staying hydrated helps to keep your immune system in top shape, enabling it to fight off colds and other illnesses more effectively. It also helps to keep your skin looking soft and smooth, making you feel more comfortable in cold weather.

3. Eat Healthy Foods

Eating well during winter is especially important when we’re more likely to indulge in unhealthy foods. Ensure you include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet, lean protein, and whole grains.

4. Avoid Overindulging

It is important to take proactive steps toward maintaining your wellness and avoid overindulging. Key tips for staying healthy this winter include getting plenty of restful sleep, incorporating regular exercise into your daily routine, and eating a balanced diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. By staying mindful of your health habits and focusing on self-care even when you are feeling sluggish or unmotivated, you can stay on track throughout the long dark months of winter and emerge from hibernation feeling energized and refreshed.

5. Get Enough Sleep

One of the best things you can do for your health is to get enough sleep every night. During winter, it’s important to ensure you get enough rest, so you don’t get sick. If you have problems falling asleep, you can use health products to help you unwind.

6. Stay Warm

Make sure you bundle up when you go outside in the cold weather, and drink warm beverages like tea and soup to help keep you warm from the inside out.

7. Protect Yourself from the Cold Virus

The best way to avoid getting sick during winter is to take steps to protect yourself from getting the cold virus. Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and stay away from sick people whenever possible.

8. Seek Professional Help If Needed

If you’re struggling to stay healthy this winter, don’t hesitate to seek professional help from your doctor or healthcare provider. It’s better to be proactive than reactive when it comes to any health concerns you have. Simple actions like getting your yearly flu shot make a large impact on your winter health.

Following these wellness tips gives your body and mind the nourishment needed to stay healthy this winter. Consider your physician before making major changes to your diet or fitness routine. Winter can be tough, but by taking care of yourself and staying on top of your health, you can minimize the chances of getting sick and help ensure that you’ll feel your best all season long.
