Safest New Cars

-

From vehicle design to modern safety technologies, cars are getting safer and safer as the years go by. If you’re in the market for a new vehicle, then it’s worthwhile to look into the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ Awards. If you want to save some time, though, check out the safest new cars on the market right here.

Acura TLX

Fully redesigned, the new Acura TLX earns its spot with only 20 other cars on the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ list. Standard LED low and high-beam headlights and driver assistance technology help this model stand out as one of the safest on the market today. Standard safety tech includes:

·         Forward collision warning

·         Automated emergency braking

·         Lane departure warning

·         Lane-keeping assist

·         Blind spot monitoring

·         And rear cross-traffic alert

Traffic sign recognition is another feature of this high-tech sedan, as is an awareness monitor. The monitor senses when you’re driving distracted, giving you an audible alert to focus on the task at hand. Plus, the TLX is sleek and stylish.

Audi A6

Whether you pick the standard A6 or the Allroad wagon version, this model from Audi comes packed with safety features. Powerful LED lights, 22,702 pounds of resistance in the roof test, and a 2021 Editor’s Choice list pick in Car and Driver for it’s smooth powertrain make it an exceptional option for anyone in the market for a new car. Safety tech includes:

·         Automated emergency braking

·         Lane departure warning

·         Adaptive cruise control

·         Traffic monitoring when exiting the vehicle

Genesis G70

Genesis has been dominating the safety charts and their G70 is the more affordable option in their lineup of luxury cars. For $37,000, you’re getting an acclaimed chassis and a high-tier driving experience. This car also packs more standard safety features in than most of its rivals, including:

·         Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection

·         Lane departure warnings

·         Lane-keeping assist

·         And adaptive cruise control

Honda Accord

Honda is a long-time name in safe vehicles, outside of a few subpar models, and their newest Accord is no exception. As one of the best-selling sedans in the U.S., you’re getting quality features and A+ test scores from the IIHS. The Accord’s emergency braking system and child seat latches are among the best on the market.

The Accord’s breaking system doesn’t beat out the Genesis G70, however. The car was able to drop to 1mph in 2.3 seconds instead of 4mph in under one second. The Accord also bumped into the crash test dummy, who could have easily hired a personal injury lawyer for car accident after. Regardless, the ability to slow down to 1mph is far better than not slowing down at all.

Kia K5

The comeback king continues to earn high scores across the board in all categories, including safety, while boasting some of the most affordable prices in the world of automobiles. The K5 boasts an incredible pedestrian detection system, quality headlights, and superior ratings in all crash tests. Across the board, this is one incredible safe model from Kia.
