5 Things to Keep Top of Mind About Bankruptcy During Coronavirus

0

The coronavirus will undoubtedly render millions of people bankrupt.  However, declaring bankruptcy is not as straightforward as most assume.  Declaring bankruptcy requires the completion of an abundance of paperwork, the services of an attorney and attendance at legal hearings.  This means filing bankruptcy costs money, chews up time and temporarily destroys your credit rating.  Below, we provide a look at the most important things to consider when determining whether bankruptcy is a viable option for your unique financial situation.

Consider the Aggregate Impact of Bankruptcy

Most people are surprised to learn their retirement savings in IRAs, 401ks and ERISA accounts are not impacted by bankruptcy.  Since money is not pulled from these accounts to pay monthly bills, they are not impacted when bankruptcy is declared.  So don’t drain your retirement savings prior to declaring bankruptcy.  Such an action would trigger an onslaught of taxes and penalties that will linger on as black marks on your credit score across posterity.  Furthermore, declaring bankruptcy makes it quite difficult to obtain loans in the future, meaning you might be a lifelong renter.

The Scura’s attorneys specialize in bankruptcy and recommend to take a look at your credit report two months after your bankruptcy case culminates to see if there are any errors.  If you spot any mistakes, request that they be corrected as appropriate.  Watch your mail closely after filing for bankruptcy.  The court should provide legal paperwork to be signed by a specific deadline.  If you do not have such paperwork, your case will be stuck in limbo.  Review these documents down to the smallest of details to ensure they are accurate prior to signing them.

Consider the Cost of Bankruptcy

The bankruptcy process typically requires the payment of fees to the court, the government and the attorney.  This means you will likely spend a thousand dollars or more to file bankruptcy.  The Insolvency Trustee is responsible for determining the total amount of the filing.  This professional’s charge is determined by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.  Be particularly mindful of the law firm you select for your bankruptcy.  Some unscrupulous firms will bill fees yet outsource the work without actually doing anything to justify the cost of the bankruptcy filing.  Read the reviews of prospective attorneys before committing to one. If it turns out the bankruptcy costs are in excess of your financial means, reach out to a licensed Insolvency Trustee for assistance.

Bankruptcy Can Be Quite Liberating

Federal law governs bankruptcy so the process to declare this financial destitution is similar in all states.  The negative consequence of bankruptcy is a serious credit score reduction.  The positive result of filing bankruptcy is a fresh financial slate that provides a launching pad to rebuild credit.  A rebuilt credit score will qualify you for a reduced interest rate that sets the stage for financial success in the years ahead.

Understand the Differences Between Trustees and Attorneys

Bankruptcy attorneys have an in-depth understanding of the law, particularly insolvency law.  Trustees are officials licensed by the federal government to work with matters of insolvency.  Many trustees are also accountants.

Understand When It Is Sensible to File for Bankruptcy

If you are insolvent or unable to pay debts, do not assume bankruptcy is the best possible solution.  It is quite possible you would be better served creating a payment plan with the assistance of your creditors to make good on a portion of your debt owed rather than filing for bankruptcy and ruining your credit for years to come.  Furthermore, declaring bankruptcy does not mean student loans and unpaid child support will disappear from your financial record.  Oftentimes, people don’t know that they can refinance their student loans. One of the benefits of refinancing your student loan is that you can pay off your debt faster because a greater amount of your payment goes toward the principal rather than interest, which means that refinancing can help students pay off their debt ahead of schedule. These debts will linger while those that can be discharged will be erased.

Consult With Experts Before Making a Decision

Do not make a decision pertaining to bankruptcy until you have met with a credit/debt counselor to determine the most prudent course of action.  A professional’s guidance will ensure you make a truly informed and educated decision that sets the stage for financial success in the years ahead.

3 Tips for Outsourcing Marketing Efforts

0

For small business owners, marketing poses a conundrum. It’s one of those aspects of running a business that’s incredibly integral to the brand, but also very time-consuming. And while it can certainly be handled in-house, there’s a case to be made for outsourcing it – so long as capable hands are selected.

The Perks of Outsourcing Marketing

There are certain business tasks that are easy to outsource without second thought. For example, customer service and accounting come to mind. For smaller companies with limited resources, these tasks can easily be handed off to save money and ensure quality. However, marketing is something you can always outsource as well. Here are a few of the benefits:

  • Get started. When handling marketing in-house, smaller teams often take weeks or months to plan, initiate, and execute a marketing strategy that a seasoned outsourced team could get going in just a few days. By outsourcing, you gain a team of experienced specialists who are ready to act. Just say go!
  • Creativity. It’s easy for groupthink to limit your company’s creativity and stifle innovation. By outsourcing, you gain fresh, outside perspectives that reinvigorate your marketing efforts.
  • Access. Trying to identify the right marketing tools and build out a suite of solutions that work for your brand is a huge challenge. By outsourcing, you benefit from working with marketing professionals who already have experience using the right tools.
  • Scalability. Outsourced marketing partners tend to be more scalable than internal teams. As you grow, the onus is on them to add capacity and meet your demand.

At the end of the day, it’s all about ROI. For most businesses, outsourced marketing delivers a significantly higher return. Not only is it more cost effective on the input side, but it also generates increased value on the output side. No matter how you look at it, it’s a winning investment.

3 Tips for Success

Outsourcing your marketing is a good call, but how? Here are a few tips for maximizing your success:

1. Look for the Right Partner

You have plenty of marketing companies and outsourced teams to choose from. The challenge is weeding through all of the options to find the one that makes most sense for your business.

One of the best tips is to look for marketing partners that specialize in your industry or niche. By working with one of these companies, you increase your odds of experiencing immediate success.

Take Fuel Web Marketing as an example. They specialize in law firm marketing, which requires its own special set of skills and experience. For law firms, working with a company like this shortens the acclimation period and allows them to get to work faster.

2. Prioritize Communication

You’ll be interacting with your outsourced marketing team a lot – particularly in the early days when you’re both feeling each other out and trying to get on the same page. This makes communication a very important piece to the puzzle.

As you evaluate potential partners, pay attention to how they communicate. Are they clear and attentive? Do they pay attention to the details, or seem to gloss over important elements? You can tell a lot about a company by your first few interactions with them. If they’re poor communicators upfront, they’re going to be poor communicators down the road. If they’re fully engaged now, you’re much more likely to get a fully engaged team once you hire them. Pay attention and trust your gut.

3. Consider Pricing

Small businesses are often forced to pinch pennies and closely watch expenditures in order to stay within budget – especially given the circumstances of what’s happened in the business world lately. But be wary of being too cheap.

As the old adage goes, you typically get what you pay for. If you hire the cheapest outsourced marketing firm you can find, you’ll likely get substandard results. This doesn’t mean you have to hire the most expensive company, but you should look for a price that indicates quality. (You’ll get a feel for what this price is as you gather quotes and get familiar with the different services that companies offer.)

Win Big With Outsourced Marketing

Some businesses find it both cost-effective and practical to keep marketing in-house. But for many others, the case for outsourced marketing is a strong one. If you want to win big and cost effectively reach the right people at scale, this latter approach provides an excellent opportunity to do so. Be smart, be strategic, and optimize your efforts until you find the perfect blend that allows you to be hands-off yet engaged. This is where you’ll find success.

What is the Social Security Compassionate Allowances List?

0

The Social Security Compassionate Allowances List (CAL) is a register of medical conditions and illnesses that clearly meet the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) criteria for disability benefits. Created in 2008, the CAL was established to expedite the process of being approved for and receiving benefits for people with severe disabilities that automatically meet the SSA’s definition of disability.

Typically, it can take several months for disability benefit applications to be processed. However, if your condition is on the CAL, this waiting period should be reduced.

What Conditions make up the Social Security Compassionate Allowances List?

Examples of conditions on the CAL include the following:

  • Certain forms of fast-growing cancer
  • Brain diseases
  • ALS
  • Mixed dementias
  • Genetic diseases
  • Terminal illnesses

Many other rare and serious diseases are also included. The SSA website contains a complete list of CAL conditions you can consult to look up a condition.

The list currently comprises over 200 conditions. The SSA carefully considers information from reliable sources before making any potential additions to the CAL. However, members of the public may submit proposals for CAL additions via the SSA’s website. So if there is a condition that you believe should be on the list, you can make a case for it to the SSA.

Information gathered from the following sources is used in SSA decision making regarding conditions on the CAL:

  • The Social Security and Disability Determination Service communities
  • Medical and scientific expert
  • Research alongside the National Institute of Health (NIH)
  • Proposals from the public

Just last year, in 2019, four more conditions were added to the list: CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder, Pitt Hopkins Syndrome, Primary Peritoneal Cancer, and Richter Syndrome.

How Do You Apply for Benefits?

The process of applying for Compassionate Allowance is much the same as applying for a regular disability allowance. It’s crucial that you outline your condition explicitly by using language specific to your case, and that any claims are supported and signed off by your physician. Doing so will help identify your case and should lead to a speedier process.

It’s recommended that you apply for benefits as soon as you become disabled. There are three ways to apply for disability benefits:

  1. Complete an online application.
  2. Apply over the phone.
  3. Visit your local Social Security office (ensure that you make an appointment ahead of time).

For further information on how to complete the above, visit the SSA website.

What information do you need to apply?

You need personal information, including the following information:

  • Your Social Security number
  • Proof of age
  • Contact information and details of doctors, medical workers, hospitals, and institutions where you were treated, as well as the dates of your visits
  • A list of the medications that you are taking and the doses of each
  • Any medical records that you have
  • Any medical laboratory and test results
  • Your work history
  • Your most recent W-2 form or a copy of your federal tax return

You will also need to provide information about family members, including:

  • The Social Security numbers and proof of age of any member of the family that might be entitled to benefits
  • Original documents or certified copies providing proof of marriage if your spouse is applying for benefits, as well as the dates of any previous marriages

The Social Security Administration is available to assist in securing any relevant documents or information that you need.

While applying for Social Security disability benefits with a condition on the Compassionate Allowance List is usually relatively straightforward, a social security disability attorney can help you ensure you are placed in the compassionate allowance program by aiding with your application.

The Many Uses of Marijuana

0

Many of us are familiar with the wonder drug that is marijuana. Almost every day there is a new article, new review, or study released on how cannabis (or cannabis derivatives) are shown to help treat a new illness or ailment. This article offers a comprehensive look at the many uses and benefits of cannabis and hemp.

Marijuana

THC, or Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. THC releases dopamine, the chemical that activates the reward system in the brain and responsible for the euphoric effects of the plant. Although mostly known for its recreational properties, marijuana is actually a very dynamic plant with much to offer the world.

Control epileptic seizures

Treat cancer

Improve lung health

Relieve insomnia

Decrease anxiety

Prevent Alzhiemer’s

Ease symptoms of multiple sclerosis

Calming muscle spasms

Treat glaucoma

Relieve arthritic discomfort

Treat PTSD

Increase metabolism

Smooths tremors with Parkinson’s disease

Treat addiction

Eliminate nightmares

Stimulate appetite

Reduce nausea

Treat Crohn’s disease

Increase effectiveness of Hepatitis C

Improve symptoms of Lupus

Protect the brain

How is it so useful?

Interestingly, many of the similar chemical compounds and effects impact a wide range of illnesses, which allow them to be treated. The most prevalent health benefit is soothing inflammation. More research is also being conducted on cannabis’ effects on the nervous system to understand its ability in treating neurological disorders. There are over 100 different cannabinoids within marijuana and hemp, the majority of which share similar chemical makeup to the parts of the body related to pleasure, thinking, appetite, and sensory perception. It is these structural similarities that allow cannabinoids to attach to cannabinoid receptors and change standard brain communication.

Hemp

Hemp and marijuana are both within the cannabis family, but their chemical and physical makeup, as well as usages are vastly different. One of the most notable differences, is the lack of psychoactive effects of hemp. The plant is not completely free of THC, the active ingredient that causes the effects. However, all hemp products contain only a trace amount, no more than 3%. In regard to usefulness, cbd hemp oil has even more uses and applications than marijuana.

Believe it or not, the numerous benefits of marijuana and hemp have been known for longer than most people realize. Recognition of cannabis as a medicinal aid dates as far back as 2900 BC, when Chinese Emperor Fu Hsi praised its abilities. Hemp was even a prominent crop in the United States before being villainized by the federal government and politicians. In 1970, the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act was abolished and effectively made all cannabis cultivation illegal. However, states are gradually recognizing marijuana and hemp’s position as medical assets and legalizing. As cannabis products become legal nationwide, this will lead to better funding, more research, and more treatments.

Former Papa John’s CEO Steve Ritchie on How He Created a Culture of Success

0

Steve Ritchie, former CEO of Papa John’s, knew that he had landed on something good when he started with the company as a delivery driver making six bucks an hour. From the very start, Ritchie realized that there were several key things that set Papa John’s apart from its competition.

“I started 22 years ago, and I realized there were two key things that [were] most important and unique about the brand: …our people and culture. [It’s an] opportunity to really focus in on transforming the culture of the brand.”

Many companies claim to value their employees, but few demonstrate that they actually do. Papa John’s, however, has a history of creating a culture that makes its employees proud to work there. One example is the Dough & Degrees program. In partnership with Purdue Global, this program pays the full tuition costs for team members who opt for undergraduate and graduate online degree programs.

A focus on programs that allow employees to access the types of services they need is another thing that sets Papa John’s apart from other pizza chains. Keeping its best ingredient – people – healthy and happy is a constant focus at Papa John’s.

For example, the Fitness Network Program provides discounts for team members at over 10,000 fitness centers. Another program, the Anthem Employee Assistance Program, provides services that are both free and confidential. These services are designed to help team members navigate the challenges that often arise as the result of work, finances, family, stress, and other personal issues.

Embracing diversity is a cornerstone of the Papa John’s foundation. The corporation created discussion forums called Employee Resource Groups. These host discussions that focus on inclusion training, diversity, and equity. It’s not just the right thing to do; being inclusive and embracing diversity also means opening up other consumer sectors. For example, women are behind most – 70 to 80 percent – of consumer purchasing, and spending by African Americans is outpacing the national average. Ensuring that a company is inclusive presents a welcoming place for all.

“But what really struck me the most, my first day with the brand, [was the] quality. We are the differentiated player in that category.”

In a crowded industry like the restaurant sector, it’s important to stand out and highlight how your business is unique. In doing this, you communicate to the customer that you can meet their expectations in a unique way.

Of course, being a differentiated player in the pizza industry because of quality means that Papa John’s had to communicate this part of its brand message to consumers. For example, Papa John’s original crust is made fresh with six simple ingredients and is never frozen. The company also uses only vine-ripened tomatoes that go from vine to can the same day. Relaying this information to consumers is crucial in showing them how a company like Papa John’s is different from competitors.

Papa John’s has always been an innovator and disruptor in the pizza industry and looks for ways to improve the customer’s experience. This proactive approach has made it a leading contender in the food business.

“So we were the pioneer. We were the first to launch national online ordering back in 2001. We’re still very proud of all of our technology systems today. We’re going to continue to focus and invest in the customer experience. We were also the first to launch a national loyalty program in the [pizza] category.”

Being ahead of the curve when it comes to spotting technology destined to elevate consumers’ experiences is vital to edging out the competition. Not only was Papa John’s the first pizza chain to roll out a national online ordering system way back in 2001, but it was also the first to introduce a national loyalty program.

Not satisfied simply to sit back and survey the benefits of its forward-thinking strategy, the Papa John’s brand recently underwent a refresh. The result is a new, loyalty program that allows consumers the flexibility to use their rewards towards any Papa John’s product.

This strategy implementation is what makes Papa John’s a long-standing leader in the industry. First, Papa John’s rolls out an industry-first initiative designed to make it easier, more exciting, and more fun for consumers to get the Papa John’s food they want. Then, the company rewards consumers who take advantage of this innovation. Finally, the company has developed key upgrades to ensure that Papa John’s is continuously building on its connections with customers.

As the former CEO of Papa John’s, Steve Ritchie spearheaded numerous initiatives that set the company up for success in many areas. Following his example allows other businesses to do the same.

The Significance of Public Relations in a Post-COVID 19 World

0

Public relations is not viewed by all as a critical part of operating a business. In fact it’s viewed by many businesses as something that’s not needed until the going truly gets rough. Once that happens, companies will call-in crisis communications specialists that in some cases can cost companies an arm and a leg. But why do so many companies feel the need to hire some of the biggest firms in size, when there are boutique firms that run efficiently like Josh Nass PR that’s work clearly rivals any work-product produced and generated by the major agencies.

It’s been a question lingering in the public relations, advertising and marketing industries for some time. Boutique firms like Josh Nass PR provide careful attention to detail; and because of their lean operations, they are able to devote a level of attention and dedication to their clients’ work that most of the behemoths simply cannot afford to.

This is an advantage that a number of very effective boutique PR firms offer, even besides that of Josh Nass PR and other well-known NYC based firms. The reality is that some customers in the PR space are looking to hire a well-known name. It’s no different than the difference between hiring an enormous law firm that’s employing 500 people at any given time, as opposed to hiring a boutique firm that’s got six or seven incredibly skilled attorneys that are going to work their hearts out for their clients.

The difference can be dramatic in terms of the value and quality of the work-product that’s produced. But whether one is going to hire a big public relations firm or a boutique one, the nonnegotiable reality is that the value of having a prepared communications strategy for any business no matter its size, is unparalleled. It is critical to the survival of any business for there to be a proper communications plan in place, in the event a crisis were to ever emerge.

We’ve seen it with the COVID-19 crisis, where companies that had already invested in public relations in a proactive fashion previously, did not succumb to the crisis in an adversely economic fashion the same way that companies that had absolutely no PR bandwidth, unfortunately did. The reason is simple.

Being ill-prepared can be a devastating blow to any sized business when it comes to navigating the waters of a crisis. Especially one of such substantial proportions like that of the Coronavirus. How are your staff members supposed to be kept abreast about the way you intend on managing it? There are countless variables that need to be made clear to your staff. And of course, you also have your customer base as an audience that you need to demonstrate both loyalty and commitment to.

Times of crisis do not give businesses a pass in terms of their need to keep an aura of stability for their employees; and to also ensure that their consumers are aware of the changes that the crisis may have brought in terms of the way they manage their business. There is no excuse to not have a proper public relations program in place in order to be reactive. Every business should employ a nimble strategic communications approach in times of crisis. But unfortunately, the difference between the professionally run businesses and those that weren’t can be seen based on whether they were in a position to manage this proactively or reactively. Those companies that were best prepared came out of this crisis less scathed than the others.

Eterneva Welcomes Dr. Robert E. Chodelka as First Scientific Advisory Board Member

0

Eterneva recently announced that Dr. Robert E. Chodelka will soon be joining the company as the first member of its new Scientific Advisory Board. The esteemed Dr. Chodelka is set to bring his expertise and guidance to the Eterneva team, who have continued to increase their innovative approach to lab-grown diamond manufacturing.

Dr. Chodelka brings over 20 years of experience in the diamond industry to Eterneva. His appointment represents a key factor in Eterneva’s scientific growth. As the CEO of Ziemer Swiss Diamond Art AG, a jewelry manufacturing company, Dr. Chodelka has vast experience with growing diamonds from a number of carbon sources throughout his long career, making him incredibly well-equipped for his new position as Scientific Advisory board member. Dr. Chodelka graduated from Pennsylvania State University, where he received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, as well as a bachelor’s degree of Science in Ceramic Science and Engineering.

Because transparency is at the forefront of the Eterneva mission, Dr. Chodelka’s responsibilities will include the prioritizing of regular advisory meetings in order to further elevate the knowledge of Eterneva staff members, in addition to building out Eterneva’s Austin-based HPHT diamond facility and offering consultation for diamond R&D efforts related to jewel size and color. Dr. Chodelka has also played a significant role in efforts to improve the HPHT diamond growth process, helping to ensure that the manufacturing process becomes as environmentally safe as possible.

“Adelle and the entire team are dedicated to scientific transparency and growth, so joining the Eterneva team as an advisor was an easy and exciting decision,” says Dr. Chodelka. “I am inspired by their ambition to make a difference in the grief wellness space and hope to strategically advise them on their already innovative approach.”

The Eterneva Process

How does Eterneva’s approach work then? The process begins with ordering the company’s Welcome Kit, which includes a video, instructions, return postage and the required tools for sending the company the ashes of a recently passed loved one. Mobile team members are also available to help in handling the ashes, and arrangements can be made for such assistance if desired.

Once Eterneva has received the ashes, the manufacturing phase begins. During this phase, all the carbon found in the ashes is isolated from other extraneous elements, specifically the remnant carbonates. This phase often takes weeks of precise work to purify and extract enough carbonate, which eventually results in a collection of carbon graphite powder. This powder is the start material necessary for diamond manufacturing.

The most important phase comes next: growing the diamonds. Using advanced machinery, the carbon graphite powder is introduced to an environment that simulates conditions that stimulate diamond formation in the earth (specifically 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit and 850,000 pounds per square inch). Once a raw diamond has formed, Eterneva scans the jewel to assess its quality, after which a team of expert diamond cutters shape the jewel into its final, vibrant form. Diamond coloring, grading, and engraving, and the jewelry setting are the final touches on the entire manufacturing process.

As the Co-founders expressed on Shark Tank, Eterneva’s mission since its inception has been to prioritize customers and support them through their own mourning process. By staying committed to both this assistance through personal grief and to improving the scientific process, Eterneva is set to expand its newly implemented Scientific Advisory Board by bringing industry experts aboard that will ensure transparency and increase trust with their customers.

CEO and Co-founder of Eterneva, Adelle Archer, said in a statement, “We could not be more excited to welcome Dr. Chodelka to our team. He is one of the most well-respected professionals in the space and his unmatched knowledge of the man-made diamond industry will provide our consumers with yet another layer of scientific transparency.”

Smart Money Moves When Paying for School

0

The cost of college has skyrocketed over the past several decades. Long gone are the days when you could pay your tuition with what you earned over the summer. There is no argument that a college education allows you to maximize your earnings, but it can be hard to think about graduating into an uncertain future with a large amount of debt. There are smart money moves you can make to help you pay for college and graduate in a good financial situation that allows you to build a successful life. Focusing on smart money moves during your college career puts you in a good situation to enjoy life as a new graduate.

An excellent way to lower your cost of school is by utilizing online course learning. It can cut down not only the cost of schooling but also keeps you from needing to spend extra on transport, books, and other high-cost college expenses. It also allows you to make your own schedule, and becomes a more convenient alternative to on campus learning.

Consider Jobs with Tuition Reimbursement

Many companies offer tuition reimbursement. If you can find a job close to your college that offers it, it can be a great benefit. When you consider the reimbursement, in addition to the hourly wage you earn, choosing to work for a large corporation, such as Chipotle and UPS, that offers tuition reimbursement, can be a great choice. A bonus is that this type of employment is easy to find in a college town.

Ask the Financial Aid Office for Employment

Work-study programs and jobs at the college you attend can be a great way to help pay for school. The hours are generally flexible, and they expect to work around your schedule. Working on your college’s campus is convenient, and once you have the job you are typically guaranteed a certain number of hours.

Don’t Be Afraid of Loans

The stories of graduating with an astronomical amount of student loan debt are scary, but they are not everyone’s story. Student loans are easy to qualify for and repayment plans are generous. Keeping the overall amount you borrow reasonable will allow you to repay the loans once you are employed in your field. To keep the total amount you borrow reasonable, work to reduce your total college bill. You can do this by working during college and applying for any scholarships and grants you qualify for. You can also save money by taking AP classes in high school and CLEP examinations during your college years. When you pass these tests you earn college credits, which reduces the number of classes you must pay for. Another way to lower your overall college bill is to minimize the amount of time you are in college. As mentioned above, passing AP and CLEP examinations is one way to do this. Another way is to carefully consider your major. It is reasonable to complete your undergraduate degree in four years. CLEP and AP exams can shorten that by a semester or more. Switching majors can extend the time you spend in college. If you enter college with no idea what you want to major in, be honest with the admissions counselor. Aim to take the general education courses you need without focusing on a particular major for the first year or longer. Take advantage of programs at your school to speak with career counselors for ideas on areas you may find interesting. Once you are required to declare a major, aim to have a good idea of where you want to focus. Switching majors can easily delay your graduation by at least a semester or more.

BONUS

There are options opening up every day for affordable schooling, mostly depending on the degree you are going for. If you are going to become a surgeon, the costs will be higher than online schooling like bayvalleytech.com. Learning online is readily available for tech-style jobs because it is easy to transfer the information in a way that makes learning easy, with no sacrifices to quality.

Things to Consider When Thinking About Roof Repair or Replacement

0

Your home is probably the largest investment that you will make during the course of your life. But. it’s more than just an investment of your hard-earned cash that will hopefully provide exceptional returns should you decide to sell – it is an investment in the future in terms that can be measured in more than just dollars and cents. A home is a place where friends and family gather and enjoy the most important things in life, laughter, love and support. It is a place where one can find sanctuary from the often frenetic and stressful world. That is its true value.

However, as with most investments a house requires constant vigilance if it is to provide the returns that the homeowner expects. Failure to maintain the structure of the house will lead to damage that can quickly spread to the entire structure. One the most important parts of the house is the roof. Failing roofing structures will eventually affect the entire structure and can lead to water damage and even structural collapse as this damage spreads to supporting structures.

So what are the warning signs that the roof needs attention – and how does the homeowner make the decision between repairing the roof and replacing it completely? This is an extremely important question as a complete replacement of a roof is not only disruptive to the lives of those who shelter below it but can also be extremely costly.

here are some hints and tips that may help the homeowner make the decisions that will affect the structural integrity of their roof.

One of the most important aspects to consider in terms of repair or replacement is the age of the roof. It may seem obvious, but older roofs are more likely to need replacement. Shingle roofs (common in the United States) have an average life expectancy of around 20 years. After this time the homeowner should consider a replacement. However, factors such as mild weather conditions can mean that only repairs are required.

Whether or not the home is going on the market in the immediate future should also factor into the decision of whether repair or replacement makes more sense. If the house is going to be sold soon then it makes more sense to repair problem areas.

The effect of leaks should not be underestimated. If damp or water damage is apparent then it may be time to call in the professionals to do a thorough inspection. Water damage is one of the most important factors in judging whether a repair or replacement is called for. If the source of the leak can be identified and isolated then repair is the most logical approach. However, if the roof is leaking in numerous areas then replacement makes the most sense.

There are also components to the roof that should be examined for damage, such as guttering. Faulty guttering can usually be repaired at a minimal cost (some projects are definitely within the capabilities of the avid DIY fan). But again, if the damage is widespread then obtaining a quote from a qualified repair professional is the most logical approach.

When deciding whether repair or replacement is necessary to first gauge the extent of the degradation or damage. If in doubt get the opinion of a qualified expert – it can save money and prevent sleepless nights.Source:  Kantuta Corp Roofing in Broward County

Small Steps That Lead to a Healthier Lifestyle

0

Do you know what the secret to becoming a happy, well-rounded, and successful individual is? It’s learning how to manage yourself physically, financially, emotionally, and mentally.

Steps to Maintain Physical Health

Check out these simple healthy lifestyle tips you can easily incorporate into your daily life:

Exercise Regularly

No list of healthy lifestyle tips is complete without a section on exercising. If you’re not into fitness that much, start with simple exercises such as walking, jogging, cycling, and swimming. Then, you can move on to more difficult ones such as boxing and weight training.

Pro Tip: A good way to stimulate blood flow throughout the body is by getting active during various parts of the day. Opt to take the stairs, stand up from your desk every hour or so, and do some simple stretches when you’re feeling sleepy.

Add More Color to Your Diet

The key to healthy living is to follow a healthy, colorful diet brimming nutritious fruits and veggies. Ditch the unhealthy junk foods that only provide empty calories.

Eat More Healthy Fats

Replace carbohydrates with healthy fats. They’re a great source of energy and will give you the long-lasting power you need to start and end the day like a true champion. Some food options rich in healthy fats include nuts, avocados, whole eggs, fatty fish, cheese, and chia seeds, among others.

Ways to Improve Mental Health

One common mistake people make is assuming their mental and emotional health will revert to normal without them doing anything. However, ignoring your emotions won’t lead to anything good. If you want to overcome your issues, then you need to make proactive decisions:

1. Take a Break

Then take a break. There’s nothing wrong with a well-deserved break every now and then. In fact, giving your mind a chance to rest and recharge is actually very beneficial. Once you get back to work, you’ll be able to maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity.

2. Focus on Your Big Goal

Having goals is great, but having too many of them can ruin our ability to focus. What you can do is write down all your goals at the moment, rank them by order of importance, and then focus only on the top five. A focused, driven mind will produce far better results than one that’s confused and unsure.

3. Open Up to a Loved One

Sometimes, all you really need is to open up to a loved one. If you think it’ll help with your emotional health, confide in someone you trust and cares about you. Having someone listen to your problems will give you a new perspective on your problems.

4. Fix Your Body Clock

You’ll find it easier to focus and be more productive if you’re fresh and well-rested every morning. And the best way to guarantee a good night’s sleep is to fix your sleeping pattern. Try sleeping at the same time every night.

Healthy Finance Hacks

Take charge of your financial health with these simple yet effective plans of action:

Earn More Money

If you want to build a fat savings account, then you need to earn more money. No amount of financial management will work if you make pennies on the dollar at your job.

A solid way to earn more is to venture into business or self-employment. Assess yourself and see what you can offer clients. For example, if you’re a copywriter, you can try creating sales pages for clients on the side. Advertise yourself on the net, post a few samples, pitch to clients you want to work with, provide quality work, and then repeat.

Set an Emergency Fund

Once you start making more money, build an emergency fund. It should be a liquid asset amounting to no less than half a year’s worth of your salary. Needless to say, but you can only access these funds during an emergency.

Pro Tip: People with emergency funds are generally more confident and keen on venturing into something new and potentially profitable.

Keep Track of Your Account Balance

A good way to keep your financial health in check is through regular finance management. Create a journal where you write down all your daily spending, no matter how small or big they are. Then, compare them side by side with your bank account. See what you could’ve gotten rid of or cut back on.

For example, you can compare electric companies in pa to see who the cheapest electric provider in your area is. That way, you don’t spend as much on utility bills. Similarly, if you feel like you’re spending too much on takeout, try cooking your own meals.
